Since the first cat café was opened in Taipei, Taiwan, cat cafes became popular more and more around the world.
Many tourists come to visit Tokyo every year and cat cafes are becoming popular spots for foreign tourists to visit recently.
In this post, I’d like to introduce some cat cafes in popular areas in Tokyo.
Shinjuku : Cat Café Calico
Shinjuku is the place that foreign tourists visit the most in Tokyo. Shinjuku has pretty much everything . . . transportation, shopping and unique spots to visit such as Kabukicho.
Cat Café Calico is located 7 ~ 8 minutes from east exit in Shinjuku Station by walk just before Kabukicho. Calico is a large cat café which has many friendly kitties !

Asakusa : Cat café Asakusa-Nekoen
You can feel old and traditional Tokyo in Asakusa.
Kaminarimon and Senso-ji temple are very popular attractions for tourists.
Asakusa-Nekoen is a rescue-cat café, so the cats are available for adoption. The main purpose of the café is finding them a forever home, so the cats of the café change all the time and there are usually around 20 cats to welcome you ! Although you can order some snack and drink, this café is more like a room with many cats. It’s a great place for a cat lover who wants to spend time with kitty cats simply. Asakusa-Nekoen is located 6 ~ 9 minutes from Asakusa Station by walk.

Akihabara : Neko JaLaLa
Akihabara is known as a mecca of Otaku culture . . . anime, game and maid cafes, and also is called the center of electronics. Recently Akihabara is one of the popular areas to visit for Japanese tourists , too.
Neko JaLaLa is located 10 minutes from Electric Town Exit at Akihabara Station by walk. It’s a small café which is good for 10 people. There are unique cats such as a 10kg of Main Coon and an Abyssinisn lap cat and usually around 15 cats to welcome you. Because of the capacity of the café, it’s recommended to make a reservation before you go to the café.

Ueno : Neko Maru Cafe
You can taste Tokyo’s old downtown in Ueno. There are many sightseeing spots such as Ueno Zoo and museums in Ueno. Ueno Park is famous as one of the best cherry blossom spot, and there are many people in spring to enjoy cherry blossom ( hanami ).
Nako Maru Café is located just 1minute from Asakusa Exit at Ueno Station by walk. There are different breeds of cats and some of cats are rescue cats. The café has cozy and relaxed atmosphere.

Harajuku : Bengal Cat’s Forest
Harajuku is the center of Kawaii culture and Takeshita Dori ( Takeshita Street ) is a mecca for teenage culture. Many people come to Harajuke for shopping from all over the world every year.
Bengal Cat’s Forest is a very unique cat café which specialized only Bengal Cats. It’s designed like a jungle inside of the café, so the Bengal Cats give you an idea of small version of leopards.

Roppongi is known as the expensive business area and the entertainment district especially night time ! There are many nightclubs and it’s very active at night.
